 The Evangelical Covenant Church of America finds its roots in the Luth traditions of Sweden. After the German pietist movements, the Swedish Mission Covenant Churchwas founded with a Ref emphasis. The Evangelical Covenant Church is made up of immigrants from the Mission Covenant Church and is its sister church in North America. Its main challenge has been the process of emerging from its immigrant roots into an American body. The church emphasizes the personal freedom of its members, and thus acknowledges both the practice of infant baptism and the practice of believer’s baptism. It is active in mission (Congo-Kinshasa).
