Immigrants from the Christian Reformed Churches in The Netherlands formed their own church on this continent. The Dutch mother church dates back to a separation of 1834. The current group is the church that continued under the old name after a merger with Abraham Kuyper’s church in 1892. Immigrants from the Dutch church after World War II began to gather in separate congregations. They were first named the Old Christian Reformed Church, but in 1974 they took their present name. Most of the congregations are in Canada, with three in the United States. The church has four publications: The Messenger and The Link for general readers, and two others for youth and students.
