The CPSHA started in 1953 through an effort of Belgian Prot. The church was then called Protestant Church of Katanga (EPROKAT). Though it includes Prot of other denominations, it remains attached to the Ref tradition. Like the CPK (cf. no. 5) it sought to respond to the emerging urban population. The members of the CPSHA are mainly Presb who have moved from Kasai to the mining centers in Shaba. Attempts at collaboration with CPC (cf. no. 1) failed. Out of fear of being absorbed by the CPSHA, the CPC creates its own congr in the region. In the course of the last decades it has been decisively weakened.
