Text written by the church:
The Reformed Christian Church in Croatia (Reformirana Krscanska Crkva u Hrvatskoj) became an autonomous Church following the disintegration of Yugoslavia in 1993 (cf. also Yugoslavia). The Reformed congregations organized themselves as the Reformed Christian Church of Yugoslavia in 1933, after World War I, when the southern areas of the Austro-Hungarian empire became part of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. With the recognition of Croatia as an independent state the congr in Croatia became a separate entity. Historically, the congregations in Croatia had organised themselves a Church already in 1551, while most of the congregations in the Vojvodina church are about 220 years old and has served the Hungarian-speaking population. The RCCC has a Croatian congregation since the days of Reformation and two Czech one. The church has special relations with the Reformed Church of Hungary, but also with the Presbyterian Church USA, the Reformed Church of America, the United Reformed Church in England and the Church of Scotland. The RCCC is a member/church of the WARC and the CEC.
Due to the pressures of war many members of the church have emigrated to Hungary and to other countries. But after January 1998 when the north-east part of Croatia had been re-annexed to Croatia most of the reformed people returned, the destroyed villages were rebuilt, so were several destroyed or badly damaged churches – unfortunately we have still one church in ruins, two under reconstruction (that has been halted for lack of finances).
The RCCC has an effective outreach ministry in Zagreb – targeting primarily the unchurched young generation. The same kind of mission is on in Osijek Old Town [where all high schools are concentrated], and recently a new congregation has been founded in Podolje, Baranja.
The war caused damages were not only material. It left serious social problems, like rampant unemployment, mistrust between peoples, and perhaps the most dangerous for the Church: nationalism.

Languages:
There is no such thing as official language of the church. The assemblies are in the language of the local congregation. The general meetings either with simultaneous translation or in the language understood by all (Croatian).
The native language of the congregation will be used during service - except in Czech congregations where Croatian is used.

Further confessions:
Chalcedon Creed (451)
Constantinopolitan Creed (381)
Ephesian Creed (449)

Publication:
Református Szó, monthly

Text that the church asked us to publish:
The next Synod Council meeting will decide about opening a new Home Page on the WWW, in Hungarian - and, hopefully, in English
