The Christian and Missionary Alliance (CMA) began its work in Ecuador in 1897. The first church was founded in the town of Junin. The Alliance founded the first evangelical church in Quito in 1922. In 1945 the National Church was formed. Today the CMA has about 25 churches in the area of Guayaquil and some 20 churches in the area of Quito. Encouraging growth among the Quechua-speaking population population in Otavalo has also been reported. The Alliance Bible Seminary has been training national pastors and leaders for almost sixty years.
