The Free Church represents the most liberal or radical faction in the whole spectrum of Christian religion in French Polynesia. It was founded in the 1970s by Hubert Bremond, a student in theology trained at the Pacific College of Theology in Fiji, but who was expelled from the Evangelical Church (EEPF) while he was still a pastor-assistant.Since its beginning this church has had no ordained clergy, and Holy Communion could be celebrated whenever and wherever members met, even in a restaurant. Today it consists of a tiny parish in Parea, on the island of Huahine.
