This church was founded in 1922 by Haroldo Auer, a missionary of the United Church of Christ in the USA (cf. United States). In its teaching it follows the lines of Calvinist theology and seeks at the same time to affirm its own theological identity. Its main emphases are the spiritual and prophetic vocation of the church, a program of evangelism, and medical and educational projects among the destitute. An Association of Evangelical Institutions in Honduras (AIEH) has been established under the authority of the Synod to coordinate the social activities of the church: clinics, feeding centers for children, kindergarten, primary, and secondary schools, and a center of professional training.
