This church is the result of a schism in the Presbyterian Church of Eastern Australia (no. 3), which occurred in 1880s. A dissenting group was eventually received (1911) into communion by the Free Presbyterian Church of Scotland (cf. United Kingdom no. 6), which had come into existence in 1893. Today the three congr are under the Presbytery of Australia and New Zealand. There are three congr in New Zealand.
