Originally called the Reformed Evangelical Church, this body was constituted in 1961 in Launceston, Tasmania, by three men who had been ordained for this purpose by a special presby of ministers of the Presbyterian Church of Eastern Australia (cf. no. 3). Its position is close to this church, with a special emphasis on the limited effect of the work of atonement. The church maintains relations with the Protestant Reformed Church of America (cf. United States).
