Evangelistic activities were initiated in 1983 by a Korean missionary, Chong-Moo Park, Park, in La Paz and in El Alto. After three months he withdrew, but he returned, together with other Korean missionaries, in the same year and opened a first church in Bairro de Rio Secco (El Alto). Evangelistic efforts led to the establishment of other churches. The Korean mission opened a college which was later transformed into a university. In 1990 Chong-Moo Park was replaced by Ki Joon Choi; in 1996 he in turn was succeeded by Joi-Wook Kwak. The church’s counterpart in Korea is the Presbyterian Church of Korea (TongHap, cf. Korea no.14).
