The conflict over shrine worship led to the formation of still other churches. DokNoHoe has its roots in the North. After liberation those who were released from prison together celebrated a worship service in Sanjunghyun Church in Pyongyang (17 August l945). While Han Sang-Dong moved to the South and founded KoShin (no. 1) and Kim Chang-In (cf. KyeShin [no. 4]) and Mrs. Choi Duk- Ji (cf. JaeGun [no. 6]) formed Reconstruction Churches, the pastors Lee-Ki-Sun, Bang Gye-Sun and Oh Yun-Sun organized an Independent presby (DokNoHoe) in the North in 1948, which was joined by about 30 churches. In their five principles program they insisted on the reconstruction of the church at a national scale and asked for the full repentance of the pastors who had worshiped the shrine; they should withdraw from their ministry for two months. During the Korean War Pastor Lee Ki-Sun suffered martyrdom (1950). Many members of DokNoHoe fled to the South. Chang Ki-Ryur and Lee Il-Hwa came to Pusan City and started a tent church (1951). They also established themselves in Seoul and there founded the Sangjunghyung church (1954). In 1967 they reorganized the Independent presby (DokNoHoe). Further splits occurred (cf. nos. 9 to 12). In 1974 DokNoHoe organized itself as an Assembly. Pastor Ahn Do-Myung was the first moderator.
