This church was founded in response to influence from Western countries. In 1968 Rev. Gerald Johns, a fundamentalist missionary from Bob Jones College in the United States, came to Korea and established the Maranata Seminary in 1972. In February 1976, Bob Jones and Ian Paisley organized the World Fundamentalist Conference in Edinburgh, followed in November of the same year by a conference of Korean fundamentalists. The fundamentalist movement found a favorable echo in Korea. In 1987 the Korean Christian Fundamentalist Assembly was founded.
