The denomination was founded by Kim Se-Yul, Kang-Heung-Mo, and Kim Yong-An in 1972 at YoungSeng Church in ChunJu City. They were joined in the same year by Kim Gil-Chang.They adopted the name Christian United Church and prepared for an Assembly in 1973. At the 13th Assembly in 1984, the name was changed to United Presbyterian Church. Since 1987 the church has been called YunHapChuk.
