The existence of this church owes to an attempt to unite divided Presb. When HapDong divided in 1979 into mainline and non-mainline groups, pastors in both TongHap (no. 14) and HapDong (no. 15) gathered under the slogan “Return to the early church and aim at one Gospel Church!” They held a prayer meeting and decided in 1981 to form JungRip assembly and denomination. They started with the 66th Assembly. Some members of the group had already opened PyungYang Seminary in 1975. The name was later changed to Seoul Westminster Seminary (1978) and ChongHoe Seminary (1981). The church teaches the verbal inspiration of the Bible.
