In 1960 Pastor Jang Sung-Ho established Seoul Seminary, and three years later he founded a denomination. In 1964 he started Immanuel Central Committee and developed it into BokJi (= welfare) Seminary and BokJi Bible School (1971). The denomination united with seven smaller denominations and became HapDong-BokUm in 1984. In 1986 the church started the HanRim Educational Institute. Under the leadership of Jang Sung-Ho and Byun Dong-Ho the denomination has grown through the witness of its schools and through integration with small churches.
