This church originated from efforts of the Australian Borneo Evangelical Mission (BEM), which was founded by committed individuals of different church affiliation. BEM worked in rural Sarawak and Sabah. The congregations enjoy great au tonomy.To different degrees they have been influenced by the Pent and the charismatic movements. Their common language is Malay. The church is also present among migrant workers in West Malaysia.
