Presb missionaries (J. M. Greene, Milton E. Cadwell) arrived in Puerto Rico in 1899. On the basis of a comity agreement their work concentrated on the area of Aguadilla and Mayagüez. The first church was opened in 1900, and a presby established in 1902. It depended first on Iowa and later on New York. On January 7, 1973, the Synod Boriquén was officially founded.
