This church was founded by Pastor Lau Chin Kwec, who had been active in various Prot groups in Singapore, but who adopted in 1976, under the influence of visiting guests of the Reformed Church in America, a decidedly Ref confessional position. In 1982 the Evangelical Reformed Church in Singapore was founded. It was eventually joined by another congregation, the Covenant Evangelical Reformed Church.
