The church was founded in 1986 in Mulago Valley by a pastor of the Presbyterian Church of Uganda, Vicky Atwooki-Wamala, who had gone for studies to the USA. The church has quickly grown and has roots in Kampala and in other parts of the country. The headquarters were originally in Mulago Valley, but they were moved to Muyenga, Kampala, in 1993.
