This church seeks to continue the missionary heritage of the Independent Church of Maraland (cf. no. 4). It resulted from the dispute over the innovations decided upon in 1989 by the Evangelical Church of Maraland. Under the leadership of Rev. Mark Lapi, the son-in-law of the last missionaries, a sizeable group decided to continue in the missionary tradition. The headquarters remained at Serkawr. The dispute has led to much ill feeling on both sides. The church is growing in both India and Myanmar.
