Like the GRII (cf. no. 39), the Gereja Kristen Kalam Kudus is one the churches which sprang from the Gereja Kristus Tuhan (cf. no. 22) and its theological Institute SATT in Malang, East Java, which was founded in 1952. Also like the GRII, the GKKK belongs to the Reformed Evangelical denomination. The church originated around 1965 in Javanese villages in the Malang area, East Java, but now most congregations are in the cities and most members are ethnic Chinese. The church has no classes (presby); the deputies of the 16 congregations convene directly in a national synod. Educational activities are considered very important as a means of evangelization; in fact several congregations have sprung from schools founded by GKKK members. The church publishes a magazine, Solid. It considers February 25, 1987, as its date of birth.
