In 1946 Dr. Thomas Lambi of Pennsylvania, USA, serving with his wife under the Board of the Presbyterian Foreign Mission, started a sanatorium with about 90 beds in Aroub, about 13 km south of Bethlehem. At the same time they built a church in the town of Bethlehem. In 1954 the first service in the new building was conductedby Tabra Khalil, one of the local Arab elders. Recently, land was purchased for building a church center in Shepherd Field Town.
