In 1962 a church in England asked the Protestant Reformed Churches of the USA (cf. USA no. 33) to come to Jamaica and assist a group of 23 parishes and 3 pastors whose roots went back to the “holiness movement.” The presence of PRC missionaries did not, however, bring the expected success. By 1987 only seven parishes with 4 pastors constituted the Protestant Reformed Church in Jamaica (PRCJ). The others had returned to the holiness movement. The differing assessments of the situation prevailing between leaders of the PRC and the PRCJ ham-ered significant church growth. The PRC has finally discontinued its work in Jamaica.
