The church was founded in 1980 by 15 congr splitting from the Africa Inland Church. Reasons invoked for the move were disagreement on issues like “Biblical Separation and involvement in worldly politics affecting the spiritual life and power of the church.” The church has been registered by the government since 1996. Ten congr left, in the meantime, to join other denominations already registered, although not sharing the same theological stance. The Bible Christian Faith Church has from its beginning closely worked with the Free Presbyterian Church of Ulster (cf. Ireland no. 6), which has provided it with two female missionaries (one in 1984, a second one in 1996). The church has been touched by tribal clashes which are said to have caused the murder of two relatives of the general secretary of the church.
