In 1980 the GGN (cf. no. 9) suffered a split. A small group of congregations separated from the GGN and established a church “buiten het verband” (= unconnected,i.e.,outside the structure of the GGN). The secession was not primarily for doctrinal reasons but rather due to conflicts between a number of ministers. The controversy began with a complaint of an elder in the congregation of Gouda against Pastor A. van den Berg. Seven congregations now belong to this church.
