The Church of Scotland began work in the Sialkot area in 1856. One of the pioneer missionaries was Rev. Hunter. Activities developed through a hospital, clinics, an orphanage, pastoral care, and a seminary. In 1953 the Sialkot Church Council took responsibility for all affairs of the church. At this time the Sialkot Church Council was a presbytery of the General Assembly of the United (Presb) Church in North India and Pakistan. In 1970 Presb, Luth, Angl, and Meth united to form the Church of Pakistan. The church is now part of the united church; it forms the Sialkot District of the Church of Pakistan. Many Christian leaders have received their Christian education in Murray College in Sialkot.
