In 1968 the Board of Foreign Mission of the Presbyterian Church of Brazil (cf. Brazil no. 1) decided to start evangelistic work in Paraguay. The first missionary was Evandro Luiz da Silva, who arrived in Paraguay in 1970. The responsibility for the work was with Brazilians until 1984, when two Paraguayan ministers (Silas
Augusto Tscherne and Sebastião Silvestre) who had been trained in Campinas, Brazil, were able to take over.
