The existence of this church owes to the missionary efforts of the Christian Reformed Church in the USA, which began in 1962 on Negros Island. By 1976 three congrs had been established and the Philippine denomination was officially organized. By 1990 there were 25 fully organized congrs and more than 20 emerging churches in Luzon, Negros, and Panay Islands. As the number of churches grew, the need to form a synod followed. A synodal church order was adopted in 1983.
