This church was formed in 1989 as the result of a secession from the Free Presbyterian Church of Scotland. This was over liberty of conscience, which many in the former body were not willing to allow in practice even though it is part of their subordinate standard, the Westminster Confession of Faith. The church was formed by ministers and elders signing a Deed of Separation from the Free Presbyterian Church and then forming a Presbytery. It supports Mediterranean, Hong Kong, and Romanian missions.
