 This church originated in the Evangelical revival of the 18th century. Originally known as the Calvinistic Methodist Connexion, it held its first General Assembly in 1864. During the present century it changed its name to the Calvinistic/Methodist Church of Wales, or the Presbyterian Church of Wales, and formulated new Articles Declaratory of the Constitution of the Church in Matters Spiritual. In 1933 its amended Constitution was adopted and received the assent of Parliament.
