Founded in 1920, the Federation includes 22 member churches —twenty cantonal churches and two free churches (Free Church of Geneva and the Evangeli-cal- Methodist Church of Switzerland). It represents these churches nationally vis-à-vis the Swiss government and ecumenical partners. Internationally, it repre-sents the Ref churches in international ecumenical organizations: in the World Al-liance of Reformed Churches (since 1922), in the World Council of Churches (since1948), in the Conference of European Churches (since 1959), and in the Leuenberg Church Fellowship (since 1974).
