Organized on July 31, 1903, this church was the fruit of a schism within the Presbyterian Church of Brazil. It identifies itself as an indigenous church and is present in most of the states of Brazil. In recent years the church has provided leadership in a number of dialogues with the different churches of the Ref family in Brazil seeking to strengthen the ties of fraternal relationship and of affirmation of the Ref faith. Without neglecting its work of missionary expansion, the church has given strong emphasis to social work through more than a hundred social projects, most of them oriented toward meeting the needs of needy children and adolescents. At the same time it promotes Christian Education and produces its own educational material. This material is being translated into Spanish for use in Presb and Ref churches in Latin America.
