The Protestant Church of Geneva belongs to the Universal Christian Church rooted in the testimony of the disciples of Jesus Christ. It was founded when the General Council of Geneva adopted the Reformation on the 21st of May 1536. Church and State have been separated since 1907. The PCG is an independant organisation financed entirely by voluntary donations and contributions.
The National Protestant Church belangs to the Federation of Swiss Protestant churches and, through that body, is a member of the WARC and the WCC.
