This church was formerly called the Bantu Presbyterian Church. It originated from mission work of various Scottish churches and became independent in 1923. The church consists mainly of Africans (and a few Coloured) and is spread over the whole country, although with a stronger presence in the Cape and Natal. The church is largely located in rural areas.
