 After World War II many Dutch people immigrated to New Zealand. Most joined existing churches. But some felt that the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand had strayed from sound doctrine and in 1953 founded a new denomination: the Reformed Churches of New Zealand. Ministers came from Holland or were sent by the Christian Reformed Church of North America or the Orthodox Presbyterian Church (cf. United States). Initially, the church belonged to several international bodies. Due to tensions, membership in the ICCC was discontinued in 1969. Formal ties with the Gereformeerde Kerken in the Netherlands (cf. Netherlands no. 5) and with the Christian Reformed Church of North America (cf. United States) ended respectively in 1986 and 1995. The church adheres strictly to the Ref confession and seeks to be faithful to God�s Word according to the Ref confessions.
