The United Reformed Churches in North America was formed in October 1996. It is made up of congregations in Canada and the United States that left the Christian Reformed Church in the early 1990s. The main issue in the split was the decision of the Christian Reformed Church to allow ordination of women. There were also disagreements with Christian Ref decisions on creation and evolution. The United Reformed Churches will seek affiliation with the International Conference of Reformed Churches.
