The history of this church begins in 1835 when an American Presb missionary, the Rev. James R. Campbell, started work at Saharanpur, U.P.The Presbyterian Mission in Mizoram later exercised a great influence on many churches of Manipur South. Rev. Watkins R. Robert came to Lushai Hills (now Mizoram) in 1908, from where he entered Senvawn, Manipur, in 1910.
The Reformed Presbyterian Church in North East India has existed officially since 1979.
