The RCA was founded in Pietermaritzburg in 1968. Although it works primarily among the Indian community in South Africa, who number around 800,000, it is a nonracial church with an open membership. Most of its members are converts from Hinduism. The church is strongly evangelical in doctrine and spirituality and seeks to reach Hindus and Muslims especially.
