 When the National Covenant (1638) and Solemn League of Covenant (1643) were no longer championed by the Church of Scotland at the Revolution Settlement in 1690, a group of Cameronian Covenanters continued their adherence. In 1743 a presby was established in Scotland which sent ministers to work among Covenanters in Ireland, a presby being established in Ireland from 1761 onward, while a synod was constituted in 1811. The Irish Reformed Presbyterian Church has supported mission work in Australia, Canada, Syria, Lebanon, Ethiopia, and Cyprus and is currently working in France, Cyprus, and the Republic of Ireland.
